Digestive Health Basics

Let’s discuss digestive health and how it pertains to what everybody wants, to lose weight. That’s what I hear every day.

So, I’m going to explain how digestion is so important. Everything starts in the gut, okay, any ailment you have, any issues with weight loss, starts in the gut. That’s why getting that on track and dialed in can make a huge difference for you in your weight loss process.

Digestive Health

Taking Charge

There are a couple of things, main things, that are important to reaching those goals. Number one would be eating in a relaxed state. It might sound silly. But if everything’s rushed, stressed, and you’re eating fast. You don’t get proper digestion. Then you’re not absorbing all the nutrients that you need from the food to give you the energy and lose weight. Then another thing is to eat plenty of fibrous fruits and vegetables. This is something that a lot of people do not do. That can also get everything moving and it’s very important.

Probiotics and Digestive Health

I also believe in probiotics. I even have my kids take them. So we do a probiotic in the morning, and at night before bed. It helps with keeping the good bacteria in the gut. This will, in turn, help the digestion, which in turn gives you your magic weight loss. Another thing that I like to try here and there when my digestion’s a little funky is an enzyme before you eat. I mean a digestive enzyme. And there’s so many out there that are good, and helpful. I actually even have the kids do a chewable of that. And that actually has been beneficial for us.

Slow Down and Chew Your Food

At the end of the day, the most important thing for you is what? You want to lose weight. We have to take care of ourselves. We have to listen to our bodies. If you’re eating and you’re getting bloated and gassy. You have constipation, all those things, it’s not working right. These are signs to tell you, you need to do something. The first thing like I said, slow down. You need to chew your food, believe it or not, at least 30 times. I know, it sounds crazy.

I try to do that but it is hard. So if you try a couple of these steps, you should notice that you are less uncomfortable after you eat a meal. Not eating to until you’re so stuffed and so full. Try to stop before you’ve hit that point, and this can also help with magic weight loss. And feeling good and not feeling like a big puffer fish.

Jen Fisher

Jen is a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP) and NESTA certified personal trainer. Her goal is to help others love themselves. She believes the story we tell ourselves in our minds holds us back. For example, for many years she told herself she wasn’t smart enough to make it through school to be a nutritionist. She thought she couldn't do a fitness competition because she had kids (and no time). Our minds are powerful and Jen wants to help everyone break through that roadblock to achieve their personal health and fitness goals.
